I graduate with my BA in August of this year and I’m over the moon about it. I am sooooo tired of school.
This educational nightmare would have been over already if I had a career goal in mind when I started. Alas, I waffled and floundered for three years. First, I went for analytics and quickly discovered that it was NOT for me. I transferred to a Game Art program at a different school and absolutely loved it for the first three-ish years. Then, as my classes moved from super fun game art and animation stuff to actual game creation, I hit a wall.
I didn’t want to actually make video games. Designing characters? Sure. Creating a world for them to explore? Absolutely. But there was no way in the firey depths that I wanted to be a cog in someone else’s AAA game machine.
That was when I discovered game writing and I felt like an idiot for not recognizing my calling from the start.
90% of my stories and books begin as ideas that I first envisioned as video games. Finding out that there are actual careers that hinge on this particular niche changed things positively for me on a very personal level.
If you have a project and you’re looking for a game writer, please do not hesitate to contact me. I would much rather write for people like me; people with huge game ideas, ambitious mechanics, a truly collaborative mindset, and zero budget.
